Caravan park water varies from excellent town supply to bore water that tastes like a swimming pool. An inline filter on the fill hose is the cheapest fix and every touring van should have one.
Inline filters
These are a cartridge with garden-hose fittings at each end. Screw it between the park tap and your fill hose and every litre going into the tank passes through carbon. They are cheap and disposable; treat one as lasting a season.
When to spend more
Most inline filters are taste and chlorine only. If you free-camp on untreated supplies it is the one to carry, and it should still be paired with boiling or UV for bacteria.

Do caravan inline filters make park water safe to drink?
Carbon inline filters improve taste and reduce chlorine and sediment. They are not a safety filter. If a park's water is untreated, a certified 0.5 micron filter such as the Frizzlife reduces cysts, but bacteria and viruses still call for boiling or a UV unit.
Should I filter water going into the tank or coming out?
Into the tank is the usual setup, so the tank stays cleaner. Serious travellers do both: a cheap inline on the fill hose and a fine filter at the kitchen tap.
How do I store an inline filter between trips?
Drain it, cap both ends and keep it out of the sun. A damp carbon filter left in a hot van for months should be replaced.
